do legacies matter anymore?
by: CuriousI am a double legacy, my mom and grandma were both kappas and I also am a legacy in the pi phi house and through the theta house with my aunts. I was just curious if these things are really taken into consideration or not? Also, if I was interested in other houses...are they more closed off knowing im a legacy in another house? Feedback would be appreciated!

In houses like small Nationals, like SK, Phi Mu and others, it is a huge deal because legacies are so few and far between. If a house like Kappa or ADPi took all their legacies, it would be their entire pledge class. Because you're a double legacy it helps you more but in the end you still need to earn your spot.
No matter what house it is, you have to earn your bid by fitting in, being smart and offering something to the group. Being a double legacy in Kappa will help you stand out because all houses love their legacies, but after being noticed you have to keep them interested. Just relax and be yourself, don't sweat the legacy thing too much.

Being a legacy should get you through the first round. If you're a legacy and the house does not want you they generally have to cut you before pref day, so if you get asked back as a legacy on pref day you should have nothing to worry about and will go to the top of their bid list. I'm not sure if your aunts will count you as a legacy, though. It may just be moms, sisters, and grandmothers.
