let's be honest

by: yessiree

Getting into a top house at Mizzou is very difficult. You need to bring your A-game during rush, with great grades, looks, activities, recs. And members of top tier houses (Delta, ChiO, PiPhi etc.) really are the cream of the crop. But let's be honest. You can be just as happy, if not happier, in a lower tier house that better matches what you bring to the table. Don't you think?????

On the last day I had one so-called top tier house, one middle tier and one lower tier house to choose from. I preffed them in that order because I thought that was the right thing to do and I was secretly flattered that I might make top tier. But deep down I was hoping I wouldn't because I thought there would be a lot of pressure to never let down my guard. I didn't get into the top tier house and I was actually relieved. I'm really happy where I am.

I thought it was just me, but while I think I would have loved wearing the letters of a top house, the reality is that I fit much better where I am. We all know we are judged by our letters, but there are advantages to being right where you belong.

C'mon, Kappa, this is getting old. No house on this campus is worthless. Plenty of people like PiPhi. And statistics show it IS Top 3. You really need help for your fixation. As for the original question, I'm in a house that some people say is lower tier and some people say is middle tier and I don't care. It's a great fit for me and I am just proud to be part of a very competitive sorority system. I think that once you pledge your house becomes your home and that's what matters.

Depends if you think silly rah rah types are cream of the crop. Yes, you can be so much happier in a house you feel comfortable in.
