Ok is it actually acceptable to contact houses yourself and ask if they're COBing? Specifically A phi, KD, AXO, etc. I've heard a thousand times that you have to get invited by them but how would they know about me..?

You have to know active members in the house to get an invite. IF These chapters cob, it's usually a couple spots, so they only take highly recommended friends of the girls in houses.

Talk to as many sorority members as possible in your dorm. Let them know of your interest as many houses COB "on the sly" meaning they may only have a few spots but want them filled. ADPi, DG & AChiO often do this. My freshman roommate in Jones COB'd ADPi mainly because our next door neighbors were in the house. Just stay positive, make lots of friends and it will work out!
