cob information

by:

A friend of mine who's a Tri-Sigma shared a photo on FB today about their informal recruitment event so I figured I'd post the dates here for any girls who were asking about COB. If you know of the dates/times/email info/contacts for COB you should post them here. We had a board like this one last semester and it really helped a lot of girls out with COB, so I figured we should do it again!

Tri-Sigma Informal recruitment week is September 9th-11th. All events are at the Tri-Sigma house on 507 Rollins Street. Email MUTriSigmaRecruitment@gmail.com with questions and to RSVP for the events.

Open House is September 9th, 7-8 pm
Philanthropy Night is September 10th, 7-8 pm
Game Night is September 11th, 7-8 pm.

Thank you for the information. It is hard to figure out who is doing what and when they're doing it. There are a few Sigma Sigma Sigmas on my floor and they are super sweet, fun, pretty and friendly. Should I just talk to them or am I better off contacting the email listed? Not sure how all this works. And if too many people come to the events, will it hurt my chances? Just curious. I didn't go through recruitment, and after watching all the girls excited about being greek, I am regretting my decision. Thanks again.

You need to email to RSVP from what I understand but definitely talk to the girls on your floor as well. Introduce yourself, let them know you plan on attending the events this week. Make an effort to try and connect with them because when they see you at the event it will click with them who you are/etc. More girls shouldn't hurt your chances. My advise is email to RSVP and talk to the girls on your floor.

I think it's great that people know about these events. COB-ing seems shrouded in too much secrecy. How do we know it's not a way of discriminating? Why not just be up front and let people know?

It is wonderful that they are COBing and being so open about it. They aren't going to get the best women possible if they don't let anyone know they are looking. Just cause they are COBing doesn't mean everyone that wants to will get in- it is still a matter of selection. But being open and honest is the best way to start. COBing isn't anything to be ashamed of- it is just filling spots in the house (that could be there due to a large senior class, a weaker recruitment, financial drops, etc.) to make each chapter as strong as possible.
Go Sigma!

It's always good to see a house being honest and open about their COB process. Look luck with your last recruitment night Sigma, I hope you get some wonderful sisters :)
