"trust the system"

by: dropout

Alright heres the truth about the whole "trust the system" thing. If you find a house you love, which is most of the girls on the website and ALL the girls in the houses, you will say trust the system. But, if you are a girl that was left out, you will know that is not true. There are some great people in greek life and some great houses, but it is terrible and stressful process and SO many girls end up very disappointed. I saw way more tears than smiles and have seen so many people completely devastated by the outcome. My point is, greek life is not the end all be all, especially at a huge school like Mizzou. There are so many things to get involved in and to feel bad about yourself because you didn't connect with one girl in one house is ridiculous. Its a numbers game. Great girls will slip through the cracks just because the process is so ridiculous. 5 minute conversations is not enough to get to know someone. So to all those girls who ended up without a chapter, chin up buttercup. It isn't a reflection on you.

I love this but I think what most people mean by it is that they don't always end up in the house they want.. They still end up finding a group of girls that are their best friends and they couldn't imagine their lives without them

I know I had Chi Omega, Tri Delt and Tri Sigma my final day.. I asked my pi chi if I could only put 2 down cause I only wanted Chi O or DDD.. I ended up putting all 3 and got sigma.
Although it was "hard" to trust the system.. It was the best thing I could ever do. I stuck it out, went to bid day.. And met the girl who eventually became my best friend that day. I met my big and grand big and new I had met real "sisters" here
I hate myself sometimes for thinking how I didn't want sigma because now I couldn't picture myself ANYWHERE else. It was hard to trust the system at the time. But it worked out.

Who actually picks the PC from the house? A committee? Does anyone else get involved? It seems fishy to me when 3 houses are put down and you wind up with the third?? Is that unwanted house given to you automatically to help even things out?
