plain truth please
by: outta state
I wish someone could tell me the simple plain truth about rush at Mizzou. I know an out of state PNM who is pretty, 3.4 GPA and felt like she connected with many girls in several houses. As of today, she got asked back to only 2 houses both of which she felt was not a good fit for her and didn't want to take the space from someone that really wanted in one of these houses. Therefore she is dropping out. So what is the real connection? High school friends? Must be in state & know many people? She had some references which apparently wasn't worth anything. I just don't get it!!!
To top it off as she was walking back to her dorm in the sorority t-shirt a group of frat guys were coming up the street behind her asking girls along the way if they got in a house. When they got to her and turned around to talk to her, one of the boys said "Awe i'm not even gonna ask you, your obviously in".
Just wondering what is it that the greek system is looking for? Perhaps just a continuation of high school? i'm very confused,

I hate every single thing about the recruitment process here. half our chapter was upset this morning because their favorite girls were cut. I don't understand it at all other than there were just too many girls. I agree 100% something needs to be done high up, PHA should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES for letting all these 2,000 sign up and pay almost $200 knowing that there aren't enough houses for at least 6 or 700 of them. the worst part is they make the pi chis enforce the "maximize your options" idea and have them go to as many houses as they can because there are girls who truly know what house they want and are set on one, and those girls are taking up a spot from someone else.

If there are 2000 girls going through rush and each houses averages 82 (not 95) that starts with 1230 girls maybe getting a bid. Then you have those that drop out (100-200) honestly because they don't like the houses they had left for whatever reason. Now your closer to 1000 girls actually making it through happily. So yes I would call that a lot closer to 50%-not 25%

Knowing someone helps- if that person is influential enough in the chapter to tell everyone to rate her high- and they listen. But rating girls is supposed to be an individual process. Just because one girl may know you doesn't mean that the other 300 girls will like you.
