grades
by: hujhkWhat are the grade requirements for each house? Will any of the Sororities place a bid on a girl who had a high school GPA in the 2.8/2.9 range?

All houses have grade cutoffs. Without a 3.2 or above it's going to be really tough not to get cut for grades. But, if you have other great things to offer, involvement, athletics, and great personality you may still have a chance. Don't drop and keep an open mind about all the houses. Each one has amazing things to offer and want new members that can offer them something in return. Good Luck Ladies!

My roommate (whom I did not know before moving in together) had a 2.8 in high school and had a difficult time during rush. She was cut by the majority of houses, including the two mid-tier houses where she was a legacy. She wound up with just two houses and dropped. She was heartbroken and said that now "she will miss all of the good parties." Perhaps it was that attitude that resulted in the 2.8. If there's a lesson here it's that if you don't think grades matter, then you probably don't really want to go Greek.

I said it would be more difficult, not impossible. Most houses don't want grade risks, however, that being said, there are always exceptions. Actually, I'm sorry to hear your friend dropped with 2 houses left. Perhaps, she should have taken another look at the houses who WANTED her? Being in any house is amazing, and it's too bad PNM's don't remember that being greek is a privilege.
