pref day houses
by: Greek
We did this awhile back and it was really interesting! Let's do it again to show the PNMs that every house is diverse and all go for the same, awesome girls! What chapters did you go to on Preference Day?
AXO, APhi, Phi Mu

I had Chi Omega, Theta and Delta Gamma on pref day and preffed them in that order and I nearly dropped after I got my bid card to DG. You hear rumors about girls crying by the columns every year, well I was one of those girls. I walked over to the DG girls with tears on my face while they welcomed me with open arms. I almost ran back to my dorm instead of heading to the house to meet the other girls. Thank the Lord my bid day buddy, and now my big, was encouraging to me. She told me to give it a chance and that she wouldn't be upset if I wanted to leave but to at least show up and give it a shot.
I'm was an officer last year, I've danced for DG before, played sports and lead recruitment groups. I'm going into my senior year as a DG and I am beyond blessed to have called these women my sisters.
You might not get your first choice, but if you're like me and give it a chance, you won't care once you get involved.

KD
Sigma
Phi Mu
I didn't want any of these houses, I really wanted DG, but these were the choices I had left. I only stayed because my sister, a KD at SLU, urged me to do so. I thought I wanted KD, but got Phi Mu instead. I was one of those girls crying my eyes out. I wanted to go home and drop out of Mizzou. I knew I could go to SLU and be a KD.
But for some reason, I made my way to Phi Mu, and that afternoon was one of the best experiences of my life. I love my sisters and don't let anyone tell you "lower tier" is terrible. I thought I'd be embarrassed by my house, but honestly it's been nothing less than a sanctuary. "Greek" is awesome -give it a chance.

I had a horribly disappointing rush. After open houses I was invited back to most of the top and mid tier houses and felt so positive. By pref day all I had was Sigma and Phi Mu. I was beyond sad but knew that I wanted to experience Greek Life no matter what. My parents were Greeks at Mizzou, my cousins, my aunts and uncles all talked about great Greek memories. I ended up as a Phi Mu and starting my Senior year and loved every minute. I'll be sad to leave my sisters and I encourage every PNM to realize that Any house at Mizzou is better than no house at all!

I also got my third choice, which was ADPi, after preffing PiPhi first and ChiO second. I didn't cry when I opened my bid, but I was a bit shocked because things have always come pretty easily for me. I knew I wanted to be part of the Greek system and so I never thought about quitting, but this was a sort of wakeup call that told me I would no longer be sailing through life. The thing is, now I can't imagine being in any other house. I had a great freshman year and loved doing things like working on homecoming. When I moved into our beautiful house last year I just grew closer and closer to the girls I was living with and many of us are sharing an apartment this year. I've heard that once you are part of a sisterhood it doesn't really matter which one it is. I know that's true for me. Being Greek is amazing and I couldn't be any happier or prouder to be an ADPi.
