has it ever happened...
by: ????...that someone was cut by a house they really wanted during formal rush as a freshman, but then made it into that house either via COBing or by going through rush the next year? In other words, is it one strike and you're out -- for good?
#1 by: Don't do it
I rushed my freshman year and got cut from my favorite house and quit and then rushed again as a sophomore and got a bid to that house. I do not advise taking that chance at all. It was foolish and arrogant of me and I was impossibly lucky that it worked out.
It probably will not work out for anyone else who tries it.

I went through rush as a freshman, got strep throat halfway through with a fever of 101 and had to drop. It broke my heart. I thought about COBing, but I wanted to have a chance at a larger number of houses. Plus I was really close to my roommate and other girls on our dorm floor who were in a variety of houses. So I went through rush again as a sophomore. I really felt like it was a fresh start. I was asked back to some houses that had cut me the first time arund and most that hadn't. I think my friends put in a good word for me, plus I had good grades as a freshman (3.85). Anyway, I wound up in a good house and I really feel that I was given a chance. There are some houses that hardly ever take sophomores, and I get that, but I am happy where I wound up.
