schedule for last day of recruitment

by:

Does anyone know the times of the pref day events? I am supposed to attend the initiation for the honors college from 3-5 on Saturday the 23rd and am concerned about overlap of events.

If there is a conflict, skip the initiation. I'm in the Honors College and this ceremony was nice, but pretty irrelevant, and certainly not as important as attending all of the parties on the last day or rush. In fact, the Honors College has lots of stuff you can skip, except, of course, Honors graduation your senior year where you can look around and see the best and the brightest, and then pat yourself on the back for a job well done. But until then, it doesn't mean much.

Thanks so much! That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't sure.

ok people who are not in the honors college need to shut up. Last year, the honors college initiation was the same day as bid day. I went to the honors college thing and then had about 20 minutes to walk to the quad for bid day. This year the schedule is different and honors college initiation falls on pref day (i believe). Skip the initiation. It's not even a real intiation, just a ceremony that explains all the honors college can and will do for you. It's not about making friends or anything like that. Pref day is far more important. If you're that worried about it, contact the honors college and if they can help you with scheduling. But again, if you miss the initiation it's no big deal. Good luck!

Pref day is 50 minute long parties, I believe, and there are only 4 total that the chapters put on (and up to 3 PNMs can go to) They usually start around 9 or 10 and should be done by 1 or 2 at the latest. You might be waiting in the pref line for a few hours, though, fair warning.....

I was able to attend both the Honors College Initiation and everything for recruitment last year, but if it comes down to it definitely skip the initiation.

If you have to choose, go to the parties, not the initiation. There are lots of Honors College event that you can go to later, but only one last day of parties, and these parties are VERY important. Kudos to you for getting into the Honors College, but I don't think you will base your lifelong friends on that.

Although I would care more about getting a quality education than my lifelong friends? This education is expensive so while I would also skip the initiation, if it was a life or death situation as in if you didn't go to initiation you couldn't be in the honors college I would absolutely recommend you go to that initiation. An employer isn't gonna care that you were apart of alpha alpha alpha and drank yourself to sleep at date parties weekend after weekend, but they would love to see an honors graduate.

So yeah you'll make some life long friends but never skip an important educational event (I realize this may not be important, just for future reference) for "lifelong friends" that you can make with or without a sorority. You don't need to be Greek to meet friends and just because you are Greek doesn't mean your best friends will be too :)

Skip the initiation if you have to, it's nothing special and you won't miss much! Although I think last year I made it to both
