I am going through rush in the fall and i was wondering which actual houses (not the girls but the house) are the prettiest in greek town? I know a lot of people made a big deal about the new chi o house but i havent seen it. so just wondering which other sororities had pretty houses

Honestly in my opinion I think Kappa and DG have the two prettiest most traditional sorority houses. PiPhi has a pretty house too. Chi O's house is impressive but doesn't really fit in in Greek town

Theta, Phi Mu - old looking but great location off Kentucky
AXO - cute like a gingerbread house, kind of small
Kappa Delta - not cute, needs renovations
ADPi - gorgeous, HUGE white house
XO - looks kind of out of place but huge and modern
Alphi Phi - beautiful plantation-looking house
Tri Sigma - the eyesore of greek town. looks like a prison and 10k to live in? avoid!
Zeta, Tri Delta - both average
Pi Phi - nice looking and great circular driveway
Delta Gamma - probably best looking house on the outside
Kappa - very pretty and traditional house
GPhi - i'm honestly drawing a total blank but i remember it being nice on the inside
Sigma Kappa - looks like a motel but its renovated

The two prettiest houses by far have to be PiPhi and ADPi. ADPi just underwent some major changes, so it's even prettier. DG, TriDelta and Kappa are from the same era: pretty but not terribly impressive. Kappa is large, but it looks like your grandmother's house. AXO is very pretty inside and its architecture is a delight. GPhi and Theta are fairly non-descript, but there is nothing bad about them. The houses I would stay away from are ChiO (ridiculously large and impersonal), SK and KD.

Just looked up the historic register for Boone County. No Kappa house there. Sorry.

That's interesting.... So the plaque is just a hoax? Because it's there.

And for the record: it's not difficult to get on that list.

Pi phi house isn't on the current list either however they also have a plaque I'm petty sure. So neither of you win.

Mizzou Greektown is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque Midwestern college neighborhoods. How can you downgrade any of the houses when the alumni have worked tirelessly to maintain architectural charm from a bygone era for countless girls and boys? The old Chi O house was a dump. The new house is too big for the space, but what a beautiful addition to campus! The Kappa house has the benefit of a Southern plantation style, but the expansive lawn adds so much to it being undoubtedly the total package. The Pi Phi house has the same attributes, as does the Tri Delt, ADPi, and DG houses, but without the stretch of the whole lot. The rest of the sorority houses are smaller but just as nice and well maintained. The Tri Sig house, because of the small footprint of their lot, can't hold a candle to the rest, but I love what the Sigma Kappas have done to their house. They've taken a "has been" fraternity house and turned it into a lovely place for girls. Kudos to them.

I actually think this has proven to be an interesting thread. Greektown at Mizzou is definitely one of the prettiest in the Upper South/Midwest. Each house is a distinct representation of the era it was built so they have those attributes. Whether it be early 20th century, mid-60s or present day - that's why they are so different from one another. As a potential member (back in the day), I also looked at things like: what were the rooms like? how many to a room? lots of parking spaces? You need to look at the whole package as well.

ADPi is really beautiful and the inside is cool too, they got a new basement that is really sweet with a bunch of huge TVs and couches and kitchens and stuff. Also PiPhi and Kappa are pretty, and DG is alright but definitely not top three. I don't know why everyone is ranking that house so high looks wise.

The ADi and APhi houses (and perhaps PhiMu) harken to the plantation and antebellum era, not the Kappa house. The Kappa house is a derivative of traditional New England architecture, as are the DG, Theta, TriDelt, GPhi and Zeta houses. AXO is a cross between Tudor and Cotswold. KD and SK are just late-60s architecture gone wrong; ChiO is 2000s gone wrong. But the prettiest of all is the PiPhi house, a Georgian Revival with porches and porticos that has been sensitively upgraded through the years while remaining architecturally spot on. Its symmetry is really special, as is the front yard and circle drive. And, yes, I am an architecture/design major. But not a PiPhi. I just have house envy, I guess.

I am a design major and found this thread to be very interesting (and much more positive & factual than the other 99% of garbage on GR that is all LIES!) I'd have to say that the comment by "Best/Worst" is spot on! Her rankings are perfect. Although there are a couple of pretty houses (from the outside) that could use a major face lift inside. For example, Kappa & DG are very dated/circa 1985. And while I think it's OK, I've heard many people compare the new Chi O house to a nursing home. :(

Based on another discussion re: the costs of each sorority, I think it's a shame that ChiO is now so expensive considering that most people (including Alums, guys, visitors, etc) find their new house to be a monstrosity!

The chi o house and tri sigma house were built by the same designer and costs 8k a year roughly to live in but they are beautiful houses. I am not sure about the chi o house but the sigma house everyone has their own room which is nice. As far as traditional greek houses pi phi and kappa are pretty
