sigma

Don't pledge Sigma unless it is your absolute last choice. I know there's the whole don't judge a book my its cover thing but Sigma is in trouble and might not last the four years you're going to dedicate to it. They can't fill their house, they're almost under 200 girls in the entire chapter which is almost one hundred girls less than a lot of our chapters and their nationals have been talking about shutting it down.
So don't set yourself up for that.

EVERY sorority treasurer complains about not having enough money. EVERY chapter wants to fill their house and most members are happy to help out. EVERY chapter's alums think the existing members are not working hard enough, getting good enough grades and managing their money well enough. That's the nature of sorority life. None of this is unique to Sigma. Just ask Kappa, which had financial difficulty a few years ago. Or KD or Alpha Phi or AXO or even ChiO with that new monstrous house. The only houses that have it made are probably Theta, PiPhi and Delta, but that could change, too.

1) if you are a sigma, you should be ashamed for spreading these rumors. if you are a sigma alum, you should be trying to continue the success your chapter has had and grow from that, not try and sabotage the chapter's future because you didn't make friends or whatever.
2) mizzou is an incredibly hard campus to get onto, and a lot of the chapters are very old (chi o, aphi, dg, kappa, theta, pi phi) have all been here OVER 100 years. It takes time to establish yourself at a campus like this. No one expected sigma to be number one within the first few years. Sigma nationals won't give up on a chapter at this campus, especially since there ARE over 200 great members of that chapter.
3) anyone who believes this crap instead of getting to know the chapters and the women in it isnt going to greek life fir the right reasons in the first place.

This is the stupidest post i have ever read. My best friend is a sigma and they are not shutting down any time soon. You have to realize that they are a new chapter while other chapters on campus have been around for hundreds of years. They dont have any mizzou sigma legacies because they are new obviously. They do a great job at recruiting with the resources they have and im sure every chapter can relate to financial troubles at some point, i know mine has had it. Greek love

I'm telling you that our Nationals threatened to shut us down twice in the four years I was active because of poor grades and retention. I'm not going to apologize for trying to warn people of the trouble Sigma is in.
