my experience

For all of you girls that are worried about what houses are considered hot/smart/what the hell ever I'm going to tell you about my experience rushing my freshman year. I put SO much weight on stereotypes and rumors about the houses. Rush hadn't even started and I basically made up my mind about who I wanted and who I wouldn't even consider. I tried to keep my mind open during the recruitment process, but what you read/hear sticks with you. I kept getting invited back to a house that I had originally decided that I wanted nothing to do with for personality reasons. On Bid Day I cried with one of the girls in my Pi Chi group in the bathroom because I was so disappointed that this house offered me a bid. After sucking it the hell up and actually making an effort to meet my sisters and be involved, I realized that I couldn't have picked a better group of girls. The stereotype was 100% wrong and I don't think that I would've actually been happy in any of the houses that I had previously hoped for,

Moral of the story: Get the hell off this website looking for advice on which houses are the best. Go through the process genuinely and just trust the system. If you're unhappy you can always drop, but at least give every house a chance because you can't base your feelings on an entire HUGE house of girls on a few opinions.
