advice for potential new members

by:

If I could give one piece of advice to PNM's, it would be to immediately hit the back arrow on your browser. Now before you stop reading, hear me out on this one: The Greek system at Mizzou is incredible, and you will not find an accurate depiction of it on here. As a member of the Greek community, I would be proud to be a member of any chapter here. However, the comments on this site don't even come close to properly encompassing all of the amazing things each chapter has to offer. If you really want to learn about each chapter, I would suggest going to each of their own websites to see all of the incredible things they have done, rather than letting the opinions of (mostly bitter) individuals posting on here influence you. And, most of all, let recruitment week help you decide what chapters you love! Every chapter here at Mizzou has so much to offer, and I am sure you will fall in love with the entire Greek system!

Instead of cautioning people not to read this website (which is futile), why not just encourage them to read as much as they can and take everything with a grain of salt? We are college students now. We are at this institution (or about to be at this institution) to first and foremost learn to think for ourselves. Weigh the comments, consider the options and then, for God's sake, make up your own mind. Trust yourself and don't EVER let anyone else do your thinking for you. Not your parents, not your best friend, not Rush Limbaugh, not anyone. It starts in mid-August and independent thinking will serve you well. Forever.
