juniors?
by: Juniors?
Is it even possible for a junior to rush and do well? I have a lot of friends encouraging me to do formal recruitment but I hear that it's even difficult for sophomores who rush. I have a high GPA and am very involved in volunteering. In no way am I a risk to any chapter, but I still have a feeling that I might be at such a disadvantage that none of that will matter.
Is it unheard of? Does your house cut juniors? (you don't have to mention which house you are if you don't want to)

ADPi took a junior last year. It's not unheard of but it's rough. I rushed as a junior as well and went from fifteen houses to three houses by Wednesday, I only had Kappa, Phi Mu and Zeta after the first round of cuts, but my GPA was just average . You have a shot, just realize that you will be cut just for being a junior in some houses.

Juniors are a bad financial investment for houses. Instead of getting four years of dues we only get two before you graduate (harsh, but true). Taking upperclassmen also hurts long term retention because they graduate so quickly your house has to either COB or take bigger freshmen pledge classes the next year to make up for losing members. My house took a junior in my pledge class but only because she was a legacy.
I would still encourage you to rush if it's something you absolutely want to do, but know if houses don't cut you it probably isn't personal, just them looking out for their long term retention and financial stability.

Has Mizzou implemented an upperclass quota and not told anyone? Because juniors have never been free additions, and do count as part of quota. I really wish we had a separate upperclass quota like every other good system out there, but unless it's new this year, we do not.
