who was stuck between bottom & top tier on pref da

by:

Because it's very much possible, we're any of you finding yourself to make a decision between a top tier and bottom sorority on preference day during rush. So like Pi Phi and Tri Sigma, or something similar to it. And also were any of you clueless to the whole hierarchy of the tiers during rush, and just trusted the system and went with what felt right for you?

On pref day my three choices were Chi Omega, Delta and Alpha Chi. I had a difficult time deciding, but the choice included a house that might be surprising. I listed Delta third because I just thought it would be difficult to measure up to that beauty standard every day. I'm pretty low-maintenance and those girls are just so pretty. So I had to choose between the other two. I picked ChiO first, but I would have been happy as an AXO. I thought the Alpha Chi girls were fun, smart and sincere and I really felt welcome in that house. I did at ChiO, too, but I felt a little more at home here. I liked the physical structure of the Alpha Chi house better because the ChiO house is not that attractive, but I'm happy with my decision.

AXO strikes again! They do this all the time, linking themselves to much better houses. Please-you most likely wrote the question so you could set up the answer.

NO ONE has to choose between AXO and Chi O. I'm gonna just say it outright-liar.

Did anybody look a the time stamp for this post and first answer? Seriously, I read that first reply, and I laughed. I'm not sure if it was an AXO posting this thread, but it sure smells like it. Everyone knows AXO, ADPi and Zeta are on here like flies on $hit. Give it a rest, ladies.

Is the implication that if you post within 2 hours and 16 minutes of the original post that the same person is writing it? Just checking.

You know how you know an axo DiDNT write this? They would never call themselves a "bottom tier" house. This girl did. She said she chose between a top tier (chi o), and a bottom tier (axo). So nice try framing axo... Again. You people are crazy when it comes to certain houses. I doubt axo is even on this site. And if you're not framing axo it's zeta. Like get a life. Zeta has become the ultimate scapegoat house because they went crazy one time last year. It's over. Grow up.

Holy crap sweetie. You're in college now. Learn to read. She NEVER said AXO was bottom tier. She called Tri Sigma bottom tier. I thought you AXO's improved your grades??

What she DID do was try and link AXO to better houses like Chi O and Delta. That's thier MO these days, post something vaguely linking AXO to any other houses than KD, Phi Mu, Zeta, SSS, SK. And don't get me started on thier page-the self-ranking is so obvious even PNM'S will know it's bogus.

YAWN -- stupid people bore me.

The post that was responded to was about axo, chi o, and delta. Not a response to the OP. Hence assuming the girl had to choose between a top house (chi o) and a bottom house (axo). Nothing in there mentions sigma. Or are you too stupid to comprehend that? You are right about one thing, there are sure a lot of stupid people on this site, and the worst ones are the people who try to make a smart ass comment but end up sounding like an idiot (aka you). Not sure why I spent that time trying to explain that to you using the smallest words possible for you to understand. I doubt you will even be able to read this whole paragraph without having to take a break to let it soak in. Good luck in life, you will for sure need all the help you can get.

On Pref Day, my three houses were Delta, A Phi, and Phi Mu. It was actually a pretty tough choice for me because I had only consistently liked one house that week and I didn't get asked back for Pref Day. I'm from out of state and didn't know the tiers/reputations/ or anything about the houses. I went with my gut and couldn't have been happier! I may not be in the absolute best house, but I've realized that no one actually cares about that unless you''re a top tier/bottom tier house. My sisters are so fun and beautiful, I've never regretted my choice for a second!

I was out of state and I had Delta, Pi Phi and Zeta. I didn't like Pi Phi very much and I'd been trying to get rid of them the entire week with no luck so I ranked them third on Pref. The girls in Zeta seemed very nice but I ended up preffing Delta because they were my favorite of the three. It wasn't a super hard choice between the two but it wasn't as black and white as people make it seem.

I didn't like Pi Phi because they didn't seem interested in their philanthropy and they seemed fake to me. Sorry I want up your ass Pi Phi.

I tried my best not to pay attention to tiers during recruitment because believe it or not, I actually wanted to be in a house I felt comfortable in. I could't be happier with my decision! (I'm in a mid tier house, according to this site)

I am from OOS and didn't know a single person when rushing or the stereotypes of any houses prior to rush week. At pref I had Kappa, DG, and AXO left. I was a legacy to Kappa (from my mom and sister at another school) and really liked them all week. I could see myself there and would have been happy but I really didn't want to join a house just because my mom and sister were that years ago in an entirely different state. But I was torn. I also really liked DG during rush. I was unsure because I didn't click with one girl that much, but the rest were great. Then I heard everyone talking about them back in the dorms, and I was super confused because I didn't want to get involved somewhere I wouldn't mesh with after rush and being OOS I had no clue what was real and what was rumor. Honestly it was really between Kappa and DG for me, I liked AXO and I have nothing but positive opinions of them to this day, something just felt more right at the other 2. Now that I've been here 2 years I realize I was picking between a "top" house and a "middle" house and the choice probably would have been super easy for most girls, but I really did love both and see pros and cons for each. I still love both, and I have friends in both, but I'm happy with the choice I made and I'm happy I made it by myself. It was a great reminder to not judge chapters based on your family, or your friends, or rumor, but really to go where you feel most comfortable and enjoy it!

I had Pi Phi, DG and KD. No offense to KD, but i didn't see myself there although they were very nice and fun. It really wasn't too hard a choice for me to pick Pi Phi over DG, I knew girls in the house and with my resume and personality I fit there from day 1. I would have been bummed on bid day to get DG, but I think eventually I would have been happy and I surprised myself by keeping them #2 all week. Buuuut, I'm happy I'm a Pi Phi :)

I posted on here awhile ago that I cut Chi O, DDD, G Phi at first (they cut me, too) and I tried to cut SSS, AXO, and DG. I really wanted KD, honelst to God I did. I loved the girls I talked to, I felt a connection there. When I posted that fact before, someone called me a KD and claimed no one ever picks KD first. Well, I did. But I ended up in DG, and I am very happy. Some of my best friends are KD's, though. I could have seen myself in that house.
So the lessons here are threefold: First, people DO pick houses that aren't considered "top"; second, don't give up on recruitment, becasue I ended up a DG after trying to cut them all week (mostly because after reading on here about how bad they were.) and lesson three; don't believe ANYTHING you read on MGR unless you've seen it yourself and KNOW it's true.

I'll try to keep this short-ish, but I pref'd Kappa, Chi O, and ADPi. For reasons I won't go into detail about on here, I didn't want Kappa and I tried to cut them a couple of times but still had them on pref. YES people DO try to cut top houses and still get invited back to them, it doesn't just happen to bottom houses! So my choice was between Chi O and ADPi and I knew Chi O had a higher tier position and that did influence my decision a lot. I liked ADPi more, but I didn't want to be "middle" when I could be "top." So, I picked Chi O. I got ADPi, and honestly it was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. At first I was upset that I wasn't "top tier" and they didn't want me bad enough, but I freaking loved ADPi and I didn't put them first for extremely shallow reasons that I now know re pointless. I've loved ADPi and it's helped me work hard to better our chapter so maybe one day someone won't make the same mistake I did and pick us because we're even with the top.

Just like another girl who said she loved KD from the start, I'm in the same boat. I loved KD and they were my number one choice house until I was cut on Thursday and left with Alpha Phi, AXO and Zeta for Pref. I ended up going Alpha Phi and I cannot imagine ever being in another house, even KD.

But I just want PNM's to know that you should not let somebody shame you out of your favorite house because it's not "top tier." The top tier is intense and it's not for everyone, it certainly wasn't for me. There's nothing wrong with any of the tiers and you should always pick your favorite house just for you and nobody else.

What do you think about the Zetas? Everyone seems to bash them on here?

If I'm being perfectly honest, Zeta seemed too intense for me. I never knew stereotypes when I rushed so I didn't know about this website until after I pledged and Zeta put on a really intense rush. I'm a much more laid back person so it scared me off the same way Theta did because I thought Zeta was going to be hardcore competing all the time.

Aside from that though, the girls themselves were very sweet to me and very open. I'm friends with plenty of Zetas and I roomed with one for three years before she moved in with her fiancé. People bash Zeta here because they get caught or allegedly get caught starting stuff but outside of this website, Zeta is just another house with wonderful girls that anyone would be lucky to call their sisters.

ALL of the houses are wonderful and anyone would be lucky to be Greek at Mizzou. Whether you be a Zeta, a Sigma, a Pi Phi, a ChiO or whatever.

I also had chi o, kappa, and adpi when I rushed. It seems like those three houses, along with theta, are often in many girls' final three. (KD is often in there as well) I ended up preffing adpi, kappa and then chi o. When I was rushing three years ago, adpi had just won greekweek and I know that was a huge reason why I wanted them...which is simply ridiculous because stuff like that shouldn't hold as much weight as it does. I ended up in Kappa and could not be happier. I think I had always liked them the most, I was just blinded by my competitiveness. And look, now kappa has won several years in a row! I think it's funny how fast what you're looking for in a house can change, seeing as kappa is now a much better competitor than adpi.

Thanks Kappa. I knew you eventually would show your true colors.
