Sorority Recruitment 24
by: anonHow competitive is sorority recruitment expected to be this fall? What are the chances of getting a bid and determining factors?

If you go into rush with an open mind and willing to find your home at each house, instead of believing that only certain houses are “good enough”, you will most likely be fine and receive a bid.
Different sororities are looking for different characteristics when deciding on who they want in their house.
All sororities at Mizzou are strong houses. They each have smart, involved and beautiful members. Rankings truly don’t matter, you can find a strong sisterhood in any house at Mizzou.

Some houses are more competitive to get into, but there will be a bid for every girl who makes it to preference round and “maximizes their options” (which just means you are willing to accept a bid from any house you go to pref round). If you have decent grades and you don’t have huge red flags on your social media, you’ll be fine. Most girls that don’t get bids made their own choice to drop out.

It all depends on your expectations. The top houses (ChiO, PiPhi, ADPi, Theta and a couple more) are always extremely competitive. They have strict grade cuts and high expectations from those they recruit. That's why members wear their letters so proudly. But there are other outstanding sisterhoods as well that aren't as selective, and anyone could be happy in those houses, too. I'm thinking AXO, Zeta, TriDelt and others. There are just a few that you might want to stay away from.

No more competitive than any other year. There is not a set number of bids to give out, the more pnm's that stay in the process and sign cards after pref means more bids. The recruitment process is not designed to get rid of pnm's, it works to offer the most bids possible and keep equity among the chapters.
