gpa during rush
by: RushI'm going to be a freshman and rushing in the fall, and to be honest I'm pretty nervous. I'm really outgoing, easy to get along with, and I don't consider myself bad looking. I have a 3.0 gpa and I'm a legacy in a top house. I know that some houses can make exceptions if you stand out and have a good personality, but how good do you have to be? I'm super nervous that most of the upper/middle tier houses will cut me after seeing my gpa, are my chances of getting into a good house ruined?

With so many legacies going through rush the top houses often are looking for concrete reasons to cut them. A low-GPA is just the kind of objective measure a house can use to justify to alums why a legacy gets cut. Sorry, but Theta, ChiO and PiPhi probably won't be interested. And since PiPhi's grades dropped a bit this spring after such a good showing in fall, they likely will be paying extra close attention to grades. I mean, really, someone with a high school gpa of 3.0 is not exactly going to set the world on fire academically. Sorry.

Especially if you're a Pi Phi legacy, they don't care about legacies that much.
