Any reason at all?
by: Tell MeI will be entering Mizzou in the Business School working toward an accounting degree and a CPA license. Every male in my family has been a member of a fraternity, many of them at Mizzou. But I'm just not sure of the benefits. I have to be serious about school so I don't accumulate any debt. Are there advantages (big and small picture) to joining a house? My brothers (significantly older) have been Betas, and other family members have been PhiDelts and, awhile ago, SAEs. I have an open mind. I just would like the perspective of people currently in the Greek system.

The only house I would pledge is Beta, and even that's questionable. Smart guys aren't an important part of the frat system. It's mainly made up of bro's whose interest in numbers mainly relates to how many beers they can consume in a limited time. You can do better.

Beta is a good frat that cares about grades. There’s required study hours obviously but you can’t go out if you are lower on the GPA rankings. Pledgeship is long though. You have what you make of the experience but you’ll definitely make career connections by the end of your 4 years.
