Nope. I rushed out of state not knowing anyone and got my second choice house. Mizzou rush emphasizes personality, grades and involvement. Looks matter obviously but all of these factors matter more than knowing somebody.

Let's put it this way: if you aren't a top notch girl, aka, you look beautiful, you're smart on paper and you're comfortably talkative, then knowing someone in a top house (and making sure they like you of course) helps tremendously. I know in some houses they even have something that you can tell your recruitment chair that you know a person and you would be devastated if they were cut and so they usually won't cut them. It certainly does help. Do you HAVE to know someone in the house? No. But does it help. YES.
