The thing that nobody will tell you PNM's is how the tier system works. There are only so many types of girls that rush and so many house stereotypes and the reason the tiers work is because each tier feeds into the other. For example.
A PNM who loves to party would probably pref Delta first because Delta the top tier party house. If Delta cuts her, then she'd probably go GPhi or Alpha Phi next because those are our middle tier party houses. If those two cut her then she'd probably pick Zeta because Zeta is the most party house of the bottom tier.
Likewise, a PNM who really values grades and competing above anything else might pref Theta or Chi Omega first. But if they cut her she'd probably pref ADPi next. If ADPi cut her, it'd be AXO and if AXO cut her then she'd just sort through the bottom tier for her favorite.
The top tier controls recruitment. They almost always have their first choice and then the middle tier gets to sort through the girls the top doesn't want and the bottom tier gets to fight for the left overs. Thankfully our greek system is strong enough that most of the "leftovers" are better than the top tier women at other schools.
Nobody wants to say it because it sounds mean but the truth is that for the most part, everyone rushes for the top tier and settles for the best they can get if their first choice cuts them. It doesn't mean you won't be happy in your house, it just means most girls don't get their first pick.

"Party" or "Pretty Girl" Houses: Delta Delta Delta, Pi Beta Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, with Delta being top tier and moving down the line to bottom tier.
Competitive Houses: Chi-Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Chi Omega. Houses that compete well in mostly everything, AXO is the only below top tier house that really consistently places.
Grades Houses: Pi Beta Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta. These three are always top in grades without fail but Theta is the only one known for grades
"Nice Girl" Houses: Kappa Delta and Phi Mu are really the only two most people agree on being nice girl/sisterhood over reputation sort of houses.
"Mean Girl" Houses: Zeta Tau Alpha, Delta Gamma, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Gamma Phi Beta. Houses known for being mean to other sororities or mean to their own members. Some maybe not so much mean as elitist and snobby
"Extra" Houses: Phi Mu, Sigma, Sigma Kappa, Zeta Tau Alpha. The bottom tier. Phi Mu and Sigma Kappa are sort of duking it out for who is better and although Zeta is considered bad on here, most PNM's prefer Zeta to the social stigma of another bottom tier house. These houses aren't bad, they just aren't known for being outstanding at one specific thing like ADPi is with sports or Theta is with grades.

I've never heard PiPhi described before as a pretty girl house. I've never thought of them that way, either. They have lots of pretty girls, but sort of defy stereotyping. My roommate is a PiPhi and I've gotten to know her friends in the house well. They are all pretty and smart, but each one is different from the other. I don't know. I'm not being very articulate here, but they just distinctive in their own way. I will be the first to admit that my house, while solidly middle tier, just doesn't have that quality.

That's also why I put them in the Grades House category. Pi Phi has pretty smart girls.

Those six houses, Chi-O/Theta/Kappa/Delta/Pi Phi/ADPi are the six that are always in the top five and the one that isn't is always usually number six.

And yet, there are still ratchets in the top tier who don't belong there. Or wonderful women in the middle tier who cut top tier. That's why tiers just don't matter. Not everyone gets who they want; girls AND houses get cut by people they want. I know many tri delts were extremely upset with some of the girls they ended up with because the ones they wanted opted for gphi, and aphi or even zeta in some cases. I also know MANY tri delta that were extremely upset when DG cut them. And for pi phi. They lost many girls to kappa and theta and I know this for a fact. But kappa and theta also lost girls to pi phi. Again, it's just proof tiers REALLY don't matter because everybody is fighting each other and winning and losing simultaneously. The only houses that really just don't get quality girls are phi mu and sigma. Maybe sk and kd.

For the most part the OP is right but there are always exceptions to the rules. My roommate was a freshman in Pre-Nursing with a 4.4 high school GPA, a dancer for five years, tall skinny blonde and was cripplingly shy. She got cut from the entire top tier because she didn't brag on herself and ended up in the middle tier. So yes, sometimes girls slip through the cracks or sometimes a PNM that a top tier house really wants might feel better in a middle/bottom tier house.
But the original post is true for the most part and we all know it.

KD at least has grades and involvement going for them. They're bottom of the middle tier by the slimmest of margins.

This past year, Sigma got who they wanted. They opted for quality over quantity then COB'd strong.
Zeta got who they wanted and contrary to the various comments posted, they've kept their girls.
SK didn't do too hot during recruitment, but they did do well with COBing and cleaning house.
Phi Mu and KD this past year seemed to get the leftovers and had the worst pledge classes.
I am really curious how these new pledge classes will step up or crumble this next recruitment.
SK Zeta and Sigma could throw a curveball at everyone. They all have the potential to rise through the ranks quickly. KD seems stalemated and Phi Mu, well they're Phi Mu. A few of the lower-mid houses will be fighting for the same girls as Sigma, SK, and Zeta. Will be fun to see what happens.

They took many girls other top tier houses wanted so this isn't true. They're known for grades, competitiveness (second in hoco and 3 time Greek week champs?) attractive members and just that overall well rounded vibe. I'm not gonna sit here and listen to people call theta and kappa middle tier anymore for invalid reasons. Crazy I know, but girls do pref these houses first. They are sought after in recruitment whether you want the bro be or not and they get girls they want and are happy with. So stop. Until you can actually show me proof that these houses don't get most of the girls they want then all your reasons are completely invalid. All the qualities of a top house are there. If you personally don't think they're too, then fine. But many MANY people do for many many reasons. So let people have their opinions and quit being catty.

Give it a rest, Kappa. We get it. You think you are top tier. Many of us disagree. I know plenty of Kappas who preffed another house first. That's not an awful thing, but it is a fact. So settle down, be happy about where you are in the rankings and just keep working to get better. Plenty of other houses would love to be in your position.

Some people think they're top some don't. So you give it a rest. Stop acting like only kappas think they're top. A lot of people do think they are just like a lot of people don't. People on Greek rank think pi phi is undeniably top while actual people who don't stalk this website typically don't think they're that great and found them pretty weird and usually cut them, which is fact because I have yet to meet a person that was just dying to be a pi phi AND most people actually cut them. Their oh so wonderful return rate was strictly from the handful of geedlike girls who didn't fit in anywhere else so they preffed pi phi and if they didn't pref them they ended up going back by default. So yeah the other half of Greek rank that is on kappas side is sick of you praising houses that don't deserve it and putting one down that does. Get off this website and stop ranting about kappa and maybe people will stop ranting back. JUST MAYBE.

Or you can look at where the majority of girls in a house are from in top tier. The rest get random girls and those houses are easier to stereotype based on personality (studious, partiers, competitive, etc)
STL private school girls mainly go Tri-delt
Wealthy girls from KC tend to go Pi Phi and Kappa
Chi O tends to get Texas girls and STL girls from good schools
The middle houses are easy to stereotype

So girls who value their grades don't historically pref Theta first? That's weird because they totally do. Theta is a grades/competition house and there's really no arguing that. Why are you here?
