philanthropies
by: i like to volunteerWhat do y'all think about the different philanthropies on campus? Any favorites? I am rushing next fall and I know that every house has a great philanthropy but I was just wondering if there are some houses that are more active with raising money & volunteering, or houses that are especially passionate about their cause?

tri delta has the most popular philanthropy with st. judes research hospital which is for kids with cancer as im sure you know. they tend to raise a lot of money because people have big hearts for cancer. others that always raise a lot of money are alpha phi with their heart disease philanthropy and kappa's cedar creek one. Zeta usually has a popular one as well for breast cancer and chi o has a popular one with make-a-wish. no matter what, theres no such thing as a bad philanthropy and they all raise tons of money for great causes. those are generally the most successful in columbia though.

fraternity wise a lot are weak. my house gave a lot of money but spent a ton on the event. the girls have it down to a better system. also not hating on zeta but they only had two fraternities do their mud tug last year so i wouldn't say they have a popular one. g phi's soccer tournament always gets a lot of people to join same with try delts. i also like the kappa classic but i golf so thats probably why.

In my opinion: The most involved in their philanthropy and typically the most successful events go in this order: tri delta, alpha phi, kappa, theta, pi phi/chi o/gphi/kd.... After that it's pretty much equal. But as said before, all houses raise tons of money for great causes so no matter what, all philanthropies are good and successful

tri delts is hands down the most popular and the girls seem to care about it a lot more than other houses, they're very in everyones face about st. judge (not a bad thing). not saying other houses don't care but when tri delt has a philanthropy even EVERYONE knows about it and almost everyone goes.

Delta Delta Delta - St. Judes Research Hospital
Pi Beta Phi - Pi Beta Phi Literacy Foundation
Chi Omega - Make A Wish Foundation
Kappa Kappa Gamma - Reading is Fundamental
Kappa Alpha Theta - CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
Gamma Phi Beta - Building Strong Girls
Alpha Phi - Alpha Phi Foundation/Heart Disease
Alpha Delta Pi - Ronald McDonald House
Alpha Chi Omega - Domestic Violence Awareness
Kappa Delta - Girl Scouts of America/Prevent Child Abuse America/Shamrock Week
Zeta Tau Alpha - Breast Cancer Awareness
Sigma Kappa - Alzheimers Awareness/Inherit The Earth/Maine Seacoast Mission
Phi Mu - Children's Miracle Network Hospitals
Sigma Sigma Sigma - Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation
Houses with a foundation in their chapters name usually use that money for whatever philanthropy their nationals think need the money. I found all of these online so there may be more philanthropies than listed for a house but this is just what each house raises money for. They're all great causes!
