tattoos?

by:

how do sororities feel about tattoos? my sister and i are rushing this fall but she got a (small) tattoo under the crook of her elbow last year and it holds a lot of meaning for her in remembrance of our dad but she's worried that sororities will cut her for having such a visible tattoo.

My chapter will not drop you for something as sweet as that, I'd certainly hope others wouldn't! So sorry to hear about it.

I know why you should say that, but her worry is that since rush is all about first impressions, houses won't have time to listen to her "sob story" and will just cut her because of a visible tattoo.

It's not too late to have it removed. There are many ways to memorialize a dad, and defacing yourself isn't one of the best. If I wanted to make my dear departed dad proud, I'd lose the tattoo, get straight A's and really make something of myself.

What the fu.ck are you hos talking about. Unless you have a 2 foot long tattoo of a pen.is on your back they aren't gonna give a fu.ck. honestly you girls need to get outside and off this site. Its getting to your head good

The girls saying to hide it or even remove it are stupid. As long as it's small and not extremely prominent, it's not a big deal. As long as it's not big and bright and colorful or super obvious it's not a big deal. So many girls in my house have little tattoos, and we're a house with a bit of a "good girl" reputations.

LOTS of girls in sororities have tattoos... what the f??? who would judge you for that! if a house cuts you for that imo you wouldnt want to be in it anyways...

Thanks for all your answers! Unfortunately getting a tattoo isn't just a one-time procedure... it's an expensive commitment that can last for years and cost thousands of dollars. I know she would never take it off. We're both extremely excited to rush, and the girl above is right... I wouldn't want her to be in a house where having a tattoo is a end-all, be-all. She's very sweet and outgoing and I think she can bring a lot to the table as a person, without being defined by her tattoo.

If a tattoo is that important to her, it sounds as if she will wind up in the perfect house.

It actually may create an awesome conversation topic that could manifest into an amazing bonding experience between the sorority woman and pnm. Be confident in yourself and embrace your tattoo! When you go through recruitment, you will see many women with tattoos each holding a story of their own.

I hope that the PNM does not take Greek Rank seriously. Sororities are comprised of hundreds of women at Mizzou and they are all individual and with their own opinions. PNM, please remember that what you hear from a minority of women on Greek Rank does not define Greek Life as a whole. Ranks and tiers are nothing but campus gossip and it changes year to year because we take on new pledges every semester. In the end, you don't want to be taken into a sorority because of their ranking, but because of the bond you share with the sisters for the rest of your life.
