Rushing as a sophomore
by: PNMPlease be honest, are you at a disadvantage if you rush as a sophomore? I didn’t rush this year but looking at it all it looks super fun and I regret not doing it. Would I need to try and get to know sorority members throughout this year to maximize my chances? Ive heard from people in my dorm it’s been extremely cut throat this year. Has anyone here rushed as a sophomore?

Yes you can! You may see some harsher cuts, but if you can know it's not personal you'll be fine. Getting to know sorority members will definitely help, and it will put you in a good position to COB (informal spring recruitment) too if you chose to do that next semester. Another thing that is really important is to get good grades this year and get involved on campus!

Today is our last day of recruitment and I’m a sophomore. I made it to the last round with my 2 favorite houses from all week! It’s been a bit of a crazy week, because yeah getting cut early on from a house you thought you’d like talking to the girls a bit more does suck, but at the end of the day I want to be where people want me back. Freshman year I had a 4.0, joined two orgs, and volunteered every here and then. I was sold on the idea of joining a sorority this June and signed up! Luckily my aunts were sorority women and they connected me with different people they knew for recommendation letters. I think this really did work to my benefit. My cuts after each round weren’t horrible, so I think I had average experience in that aspect. I’m just happy to feel safe finally bc my pi chi told me as long as I pref both my houses I’ll get a bid! Obviously have a favorite, but would be happy and grateful to be a sister of either
