Why not drop and COB
by: Why NotI had some good houses to go back to but my 2 favorites didn’t ask me back. I’m thinking about just dropping and hoping one of them will offer me a bid through COB. Worth a shot?

If you didn't make sisterhood cuts, don't think COB will change the outcome. I can honestly tell you this might be one of the most successful recruitments for at least 10 houses in a long time. Unless a bunch of girls drop for preference, you are maybe looking at houses taking 5-12 max during COB if they graduated a lot seniors.

Lots of great advice on how little girls actually get bids during COB. But also, fall semester of freshman year is a huge part of the sorority experience. You'll want to have gone through the new member experience, initiation, homecoming, football games, big little, halloween, the holidays, etc. with the big pledge class.
Not that you wouldn't enjoy this time outside of greek life, of course you would, but you will miss out on some things. What I tell people is this: only drop if you would rather not ever be in a sorority than be in the sororities you have remaining. Also, you barely know these girls you could be wrong about what would be a good fit for you.

If they bounced you that early they aren't interested -- now or in the future. The best houses either don't COB or take a small number of women, so you can't count on that. This is a good time to learn that it's hard to stand out in a big pond. This isn't high school and it takes much more to be exceptional. Accept that fact and deal with it. Stick with what you have and drop ONLY if none of the choices are acceptable to you. But also understand that if you drop you might never get into a house you desire.

Bad advice. If she didn’t even make it to sisterhood round, she shouldn’t be banking her luck on the 2 houses that dropped her. What sense does it make to intentionally put yourself in a position to fight for 5-15 spot for a bid if you don’t have to? If you drop while you still have some good houses, you’re going to regret it. Find your home with what you have left, because those girls are the ones who can see your value. Come the morning of pref round if your two remaining chapters are ones you don’t like whatsoever, then yes drop and COB. The reality of recruitment is many girls don’t get their favorite chapter from the beginning of recruitment, and that’s usually because it just wasn’t meant to be. The girls who get bids in COB are typically girls who were invited to sisterhood or pref round and girls who never went through formal recruitment.
