first round cuts for most houses are GPA cuts. most houses have a certain minimum gpa requirement and if you do not meet it you are cut after open house

Bad houses invite most people back because a) they don't make grade cuts and b) so many girls cut them. They just want to make quota and can't be too selective. The top houses just invite women back whom they perceive as being sisterhood quality. They get who they want so they do the choosing.

Let me rephrase this:

This is all an algorithm made to maximize success for both chapters and pnms. Chapters that historically underperform during rush and are ranked lower by pnms invite more pnms back each round to maximize their chances of having a full pledge class as more pnms attempt to cut them. Chapters that historically do well in recruitment and are ranked high by pnms invite less pnms back each round because those pnms are not as likely to cut them and they will have no issues getting a full pledge class of girls that want to be there on bid day.

This is also good for pnms because it keeps girls from getting their hopes up about a chapter that isn't going to give them a bid.

It sounds harsh but this is how it works. It's all a computer program.

Both have to preference each other and we all have to have a minimum and maximum we prefernce. Less desirable houses have less this round, more desirable have more. If a house underperforms, they get filled with PNMs that ranked them lower. This is why some PNMs are sitting with 9-10 houses this round.

You do realize that there are rules, it not just an algorithm. Saying that more desirable house take less PNMs this round is wrong, they take more. This allows them to make the real cuts with women who actually want to be in their house. We all max out this round with PNMs and hope for the best. If a house has less rounds, that means less PNMs preffed them but they have to met the minimum rounds.

The big cuts come tonight going into sisterhood when we and PNMs have to narrow it down.

As a Sigma we had very few rounds during philanthropy while other houses, the more desirable, had almost a full schedule.

As much as I would like to be recruiting, it is fun to come on here and actually be honest and see how little most people on her know about sorority rush.

Unless Mizzou is no longer using RFM (release figure methodology), I'm not wrong.

@Ummm half correct you are completely wrong. You are clearly a much older member who rushed back in the days when girls got paper invitations to sorority parties and could pick and choose which ones to accept, and when some girls were left without a bid after pref due to cross-cutting. You probably did bid matching by hand.

RFM was introduced in the early 2000's. Sigma wasn't even here then so no, you did not ever rush on this campus in the age of RFM.

RFM is entirely driven by a computer algorithm. It requires the stronger recruiting houses to make more releases at every round than the less strong recruiting houses. Each house is given a number that they can invite back and nothing over. That number is different for every house and is assigned based on how the pnm's have ranked the houses over the past few years' recruitment. PNM's do not do the narrowing down unless they have more invitations than a round will allow. In that case the algorithm uses their ranks to drop their lower ranked houses, otherwise the algorithm sends them to as many house as possible in a round to give them as many options as possible. The big cuts do not come later, they come earlier from the sororities to prevent leading on pnm's just for party filler, which allows them to focus on houses they have a good shot with.

And you probably don't even know about quota additions.

Please step out and educate yourself before you confuse pnm's and make yourself look a fool.

I also don't understand what you are talking about ummmmwhatever. It really doesn't sound like you even know what RFM is. Nobody has said anything about not making adjustments. That is all part of the process because as people drop out of rush the numbers are adjusted. The system is percentage based, not hard numbers. Is is all based off how the pnm's are ranking the houses. If a house was projected to trend a certain way, but their return rate is lower or higher, their numbers get adjusted immediately. That is RFM. IDK what you mean by straight RFM.

I guess you are talking about flex lists because idk what else you could mean about min and max. And by rounds I guess you mean parties because rounds are a different thing.

One thing I can tell you is it isn’t based off of GPA. Those who tell you it is straight up are lying to you. I know PNMs who has a 4.0 GPA and were dropped by almost every house after Open House.

I don't think anyone has ever said that sororities choose their members exclusively according to GPA. All anyone has said is that if you don't have the minimum GPA that a sorority requires, you don't make it past the first round. That's what are known as "grade cuts," and the houses with strict standards are required by their nationals/alums to abide by them. But you can't get into a top house on grades alone. You need outstanding activities, leadership and other talents.

I’m on here because my niece told me about Greek rank. I’m curious what the max houses a PNM can go to each day. In the olden days we went from 14 open house to 7 on skit day to 5 on sisterhood/philanthropy day to 3 on Pref day.

We go to all of them on open house (15 or 14 this year idk), 11 max for philanthropy, 7 max for sisterhood, and 2 on Pref

This year there is only 14 houses participating. Open House is virtual, each side watches videos and then ranks. Next is Philanthropy, 10 houses max. Then Sisterhood, 6 houses max. Then Preference, 2 houses.
