It will get you past the first round of cuts. After that, you have to earn it.

I think it helps quite a bit, assuming you are someone they like. You would have a better chance of returning than someone equally likable who was not a legacy.

Houses that are smaller on a national level, like Sigma or Sigma Kappa, value legacies more than larger houses like DG or Delta and the reason is because it's less common to be a legacy to a nationally small house than it is a large one.

That being said, always put your legacies down, it can't hurt. And only talk about them in the house you're a legacy to. If you're a Chi-O legacy, only talk about being a Chi-O legacy at Chi-O.

And always keep an open mind <3

I would talk about being a legacy ONLY in the house where you are a legacy and ONLY if asked. NEVER bring it up. It smacks of desperation. Remember, if you are a legacy in a good house, there probably are a dozen other legacies among PNMs in the room with you. The houses with the longest history at mizzou could fill a pledge class just with legacies, and, of course, they would never do that. They know who you are. No need to bring it up unless asked.

Yes. Trust me, we know who out legacies are. For the most part, don't bring it up unless asked about it. Now there are some situations that might be okay to slip it in, like if an active asks how you heard about greek life you could say something like, "My mother used to talk about how much fun she had being greek, so I thought it would be a good experience." That's a subtle way to remind them you're a legacy. But never be the girl who says something like, "MY MOM WAS A THETA TOO AND HAD THE TIME OF HER LIFE OH MY GOD I'LL DIE IF I'M NOT A THETA."

Being a legacy isn't as big a deal as movies make it seem. Being smart, funny and having a lot to offer does matter. So be a legacy but don't let being a legacy be the ONLY thing you are.
