pi phi

The women of PiPhi who work so hard to keep their grades up and the girls who were cut because their grades weren't high enough know that someone on academic probation would never make it into PiPhi. Nor would they make it into Theta, Kappa, ChiO or Delta. So cut the B.S. I may not be a PiPhi, but I am a member of one of the other houses and we wouldn't ask someone on probation back after the first day, unless it was a courtesy invite because she was a legacy. And if that's the case we would cut her before the last day or rush.

Pi Phi, Chi O, Delta, and Theta (Kappa i've heard mixed things on... legacies they are a little more lenient on) have strict grade cuts. Not to sound rude, but there are so many girls going through recruitment that are the total package... involvement, looks, dance/skit/sports, AND GRADES. When you are comparing one girl who is great and another girl that is equally as great and has stellar grades it's an obvious decision.

I am on Exec in a top house and we have really gotten burned when we take grade risks. If they couldn't do well in high school they really aren't going to do well in college. We have strict grade expectations and new members need to report their midterm grades to us. The grade risks need to show us every test. Of the three grade risks we took in fall, two are no longer members. They couldn't cut it academically and because there is a point system for living in the house (with grades playing a big role in earning points), they never could have lived in anyway. There are so many outstanding girls going through rush and there really isn't much of a reason to take someone who isn't going to help the house GPA. Sad, but true.

Sorry to burst the PiPhi bubble but my roommate who is also my 1st cousin, is a freshman & a PiPhi. She had a 3.459 weighted GPA and a 22 on the ACT. BUT, she knew a TON of people in the house. With every house, it's not what you know, it's WHO & HOW MANY you know.
