sororities v. fraternities
by: MyOpinionI've only been part of the Greek system here for less than a year (although I am an officer in my pledge class), but it seems the sororities on this campus are a lot stronger than the fraternities. Sororities here are organized, have an identity, are selective, emphasize important things like grades and service rather than just drinking and partying. There are some really strong fraternities, but even the best of them aren't as consistently great as the top sororities. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Fraternities need to either step it up or quit it with the sense of entitlement and superiority.
Newsflash, guys: Last semester only 9 IFC fraternities were above the all-university GPA. And 2 were above the all-greek GPA.
Even though I'm greek I have to laugh when frat boys brag about being more successful than GDIs. Like, no. Your frat has a 2.8 GPA.

I have to agree with "Trust Me". The guys in the fraternities which are generally considered top tier are average looking at best, and their biggest fans are themselves. And while I know some of them do well in school, all they really seem to be known for is how much they can party. The girls who are their groupies are just as rough. I'm hoping that they grow out of that. I guess it's great fun for a while, but wow, not really why I came to college.

Seems to me there's still time to beef up your grades, or even change your major to one of the more difficult business emphases. The classes only get harder so if you haven't done that well so far you'd better figure out why.You better lose that attitude, too, and start working on what's important. Hint: It's not who you know, it's how hard you work.

I would agree with the last statement. I know several guys in either sports clubs and non-greek orgs. that have a much higher IQ and GPA compared to fraternity guys. These guys act and talk like college men, not like high schoolers. also, non-Greek guys just don't revolve their whole life around the "Frat House." It sad, but it is true.
