I don't want any bashing or anything with the question. More like is a house sporty and into intramurals, or very academic, or great with philanthropy, or superb sisterhood where the girls hang out a lot together. Things like that. So pretty much, what are the strengths of each house. We don't need any negativity, as all houses have pros and cons. I would like to focus on strengths.

I get what you are hoping to hear, but describing each sororities vibe is more challenging than you think. This is because every house has sporty girls, girls who are into fashion, girls who are studious, social girls and introverted girls. This list goes on and on. Sure lots of opinions are out there, but what really matters are the houses or house you click with during rush.

Come prepared to ask questions of the sisters to find out what you want to know. Philanthropy, predominant majors, grade expectations, alumni support, campus involvement, costs, etc. Also as you meet sisters take note if you are connecting with any of them, did you meet a sister who you can imagine as a friend….this is for you to find your place, not what someone else’s opinion is of the houses, because there are a lot out there.

Sororities on this campus have hundreds of members, so you will find just about every type of girl in every house. One thing you might want to find out, however, is if a house has lots of out-of-state girls. The houses without a significant number of out-of-state members tend to be cliquey and take friends of friends rather than the best possible candidate -- and don't really give out-of-staters a chance because they don't already know anyone in the house. Also, houses with a significant number of j-school majors usually have many out-of-state girls because the j-school attracts students from all around the country.

Go through recruitment and make up your own mind.
