grades
by: gmdI'm a senior from Chicago and I'll be attending Mizzou in the fall. My overall gpa is a 3.2, will that hurt my chances of getting into a good house? I know that sororities keep track of your grades during the semester but do they ever request to see a high school transcript when rushing?

They do ask for your high school gpa when you're filling out your rush application. I would definitely try to raise it a tiny bit if you can before the year is over but with a 3.2 you CAN still get in a good house just probably will have trouble with houses like Chi O and Theta who are known for good grades.

Actually, it may depend on the school. In suburban Chicago there are many extremely competitive schools where a 3.2 is a good gpa, especially because 95% of the graduating class goes on to a 4-year college. My house takes the competitive nature of the school into consideration, especially if you have lots of AP classes and a strong ACT (30 or above). But there there are some schools, like the private schools in St. Louis where A's are handed out like candy and if your check doesn't bounce you can have a 3.8 or 3.9 without much work. We are aware of those schools, too, and always check for ACTs with those girls because their GPA is extremely unreliable. Houses mainly want girls who will do well in college and if you have come from an extremely competitive high school, Mizzou should be a snap and you will likely help your house's gpa.
