gpas for rush
by: GPA curiousI was just wondeing what is considered a good GPA when rushing for a sorority? And do they look at SAT scores? If so what is considered good? Do they value one more over the other?

It depends on the house. Sororities like PiPhi, Theta ADPi and ChiO have really strict grade restrictions and won't even consider you if you are below a certain GPA in high school. It can be as high as 3.7 for one of the houses (my house, but I'd rather not say what it is). Grade cuts are just the first step, however. You also have to have honors or awards or athletic prowess or editor of the newspaper or any number of other ways someone can stand out to make a top house. But there are plenty of other houses and many other great sisterhoods that are not as selective but still worth joining. Houses often look at ACTs just to make sure you didn't come from some private school where A's are given not earned. It also depends on whether you have taken lots of AP classes.
