new sorority?

by: intrigued

There's a new sorority on campus. I saw them tabling today in the Student Center, and their letters didn't look familiar. Does anyone know anything about them? I think they're Delta Xi Nu. I think they're a cultural group because they're a really diverse group of women from the looks of it.

I just looked on Wikipedia and it says they're starting a colony here this year, though it's not NPHC or PHA or anything like that. Relatively small nationwide. Are they sort of like SAEPi?

I went to school in Texas and have heard of this sorority before. It's a multicultural sorority and for the most part in Texas they're governed by multicultural greek councils. I don't know if Mizzou ever had one but we sure don't now so I don't really know where these ladies would fit in if they did want to join a council. From what I saw in Texas they probably wouldn't fit into PHA. I think they're more like NPHC the way they do recruitment and I know they step and stuff. My room mate at my old school was a KDChi so she was part of their council.

Would they do Greek Week and HOCO or what?

I don't know, you'd have to ask one of the members. What difference does it make if they do Greek Week or HOCO? I'm proud of these women for breaking barriers and doing something different and unique. PHA isn't for everyone and this is another option for ladies seeking sisterhood. I'm excited for them, and maybe they will join us and do Greek Week and homecoming later on.

No difference, just wondering! I know that SAEPi are doing GW this year along with NPHC so I was wondering if this new sorority would be jumping right in along with them or wait a few semesters to establish themselves before giving it a go.

The more the merrier. Embracing diversity is part of what makes Mizzou great. And any time an organization can help someone feel welcome and find their niche, that's a good thing.

So I checked out the Wikipedia page and it says they're service/social. So does that mean we can join them if we're already in a PHA sorority? Or would it be in the place of PHA? Is it like Little Sisters of the Pearls and Rubies where you can be a member that and PHA? If so, I'd be interested!

I don't think you can do PHA and DXiNu at the same time. At least I never saw it in Texas.
