What if you are COBing at 2 different houses and one if before the other and they give you a bid? can you still go to the other house or are they going to make you accept the bid super fast?

I believe you have 24 hours to make a decision or they give the spot to another potential member. At least that's what happened to me. I was offered a bid at AXO and had to call my parents right away to go over details. A week later I was offered a bid to ADPi
But turned it down since I already accepted AXO. However, you have the right to drop whenever as long as it's before initiation. Eg. I could've dropped AXO and accepted ADPi before becoming a member of AXO. Does that make sense? Hope that helps!

Thanks! My deliema that Sk is doing COB right now and its not like I've even been offered a bid or anything I'm just thinking ahead but I was also recommended by a friend at AXO. I do like SK but i LOVE AXO. I'd rather be in Sk than be in nothing at all but my friend at AXO said she doesn't know how cob will work so i don't want to not accept SK if AXO isn't going to cob that many girls. Since you COBed with AXO do you know anything about this? Thanks soo much for all your help

I COBed years ago, but my advice is still the same - go ahead an accept the bid to SK to be safe. You may or may not hear from AXO and if you really want to be Greek then it's best to give it a shot. And there are so many girls in all of our houses I'm sure you will find friends in SK if AXO doesn't work out! I'm glad you're being open minded, I hope everything works out in your favor!

yeah, I don't want to be rude and and be like sorry SK you're my second choice. But then again I do love AXO and I do think it's a better fit. So if I get offered a bid at SK and the go to a COB event at AXO and get offered a bid there, I will be able to accept AXO's and drop SK?

It's always a good choice to accept the bid you get because AXO might not get back to you and then you're SOL. If you like SK at all, take the bid. It's risky not to.

I'm an AXO and like you said we are not taking many girls at all. The first poster (hey sistaaa) is actually wrong. I know of a girl from 2 years ago who accepted a COB bid to another house, then dropped that house when she received a bid to AXO. Because she had already accepted a bid to a house prior, there was all this PHA politics and in the end she was forced to drop AXO like 2 or 3 weeks after accepting the bid and had to re-rush again in the fall.

Maybe this has changed since then, but if it has I never heard.

AXO is being very, very picky with the girls they take. I'm not saying you aren't wonderful but they aren't taking very many girls so if you decline a bid from SK you are risking a lot hoping that AXO will take you. If you're a freshman than I would suggest waiting it out for AXO and if you don't get a bid, rush in the fall. But if you're already a sophomore I would suggest you take the bid from SK if you like them because it's risky to hope for a bid from AXO considering how few girls they are taking.

Talk to who ever offered you a bid personally and don't make it sound like you like them but they are your second choice. Simply explain to them that you have been offered a chance to see another house and you really want to keep your options open, give a fair chance to each house and find the best fitting house for YOU. Thats what recruitment is all about so I'm sure they will be understanding especially if they want you. there are deadline but often times they can be over ridden. Just be straight up and let them know what you are thinking they will want to accommodate if they want you as a member.

I'm currently COBing 2 houses, and I'm having a tough decision deciding which one to pick if I get offered bids. Is there anything I should be using as a way to help decide? Any advice other than "whichever feels right" ?

I don't know if you've heard this before, but I was told to think about "are these the girls you think you could live with, brush your teeth next to, eat all your meals with?" If you're second guessing the answer to those questions, that house may not be right for you. The best house to join is the house you feel most comfortable in, the girls are the most welcoming, and you feel that you fit in!
