sisterhood
by: Cho ChangGoing through fall recruitment next year coming from North Carolina for journalism! I want an honest opinion here, are there houses you all would really advice not joining? I've been reading this site a bit and have a close friend that goes to Mizzou now and from what I've gathered Mizzou has a strong Greek life and if you're not Greek, you're not anything. I want to be open minded but I would rather stay away from houses that have notable problems with sisterhood and are catty because I want to make good friends being from out of state!! From what I've seen and heard, every chapter has something unique to offer, but Zeta and Sigma have some serious issues with. Keeping their members. Thoughts? Any other houses have sisterhood problems that a rushee would to know about until after I joined?? Thanks.

PLEASE do not base your decision on ANYTHING you read on this site. This is the worst of any behavior you will see, with all the cattiness and drama welling up to the top that ordinarily is kept in check. The entire system is amazing, and every single house has a lot going for it. Every single house also has drawbacks. Please wait until you get here, go through formal recruitment, and keep an open mind about the process.

It's not about which houses are the best, it's about which houses will have you. The top houses are extremely selective and if you don't measure up, they won't ask you back. So if you are extremely smart (and preferably qualified for the j-school as a freshman), have loads of honors and activities, have a great personality and are attractive, you might have a chance. Otherwise you might as well just concentrate on studying and make good friends in the dorm.

I know Pi Phi is notorious for purposefully bidding out of state girls because they like being diverse. So you might have a good fit there because they have a lot of girls from all over and it's something they're known to look for. That being said, they aren't terribly involved and don't compete very well. Also they are the stoner house. So just keep that in mind with them.

I mean if you get your second or third choice, you'll get over not getting your top choice.
