just wondering..
by: AhI am thinking about rushing next fall as a freshman at Mizzou and I was just wondering if going into rush with a 2.7 GPA would get me atmutomatically cut from a lot of houses?
#1by: honestly
Honestly yes it would. Every house has grade cuts around a 3.0, but will sometimes make exceptions for like a 2.9 if the girl is REALLY amazing in every other way. You would be better off working hard freshman year and COBing or rushing as a sophomore.
OR another good idea would be to rush as a freshman anyway, just to get a headstart on befriending girls in sororities/your dorm/pi chi group/... but don't get your hopes up. Then later on if you COB/rush again it could help you out A LOT already knowing girls in the houses. Just being realistic.

There could be a place for you, but don't set your sights very high. Also, if you only earned a 2.7 in high school, are you sure you can handle the demands of pledgeship AND classes? Especially with homecoming, you have to put in LOTS of hours at the house as a pledge and you might already be struggling to pass your classes. I don't mean to discourage you, but the main reason to go to college is to get an education and with a 2.7, you will have to actually learn how to study. Many freshman classes are designed to weed out the students without much potential, so be forewarned.
#3by: grades
Lower and middle tier houses usually have like a 3.0 to 3.2 gradecut. I'm not positive but I think MOST of the top tier have a 3.3 cut or higher. Every single house will make exceptions if the girl is otherwise a really amazing PNM. It can be done - I know a girl who got into Adpi with a 2.8 and a girl that got into Theta with a 2.8 or 2.9- cant remember what exactly. I don't want to get your hopes up because with all honesty 2.7 will be on the very low side for incoming PNMs. Just saying it is possible but really rare and if I were you I would definitely keep COBing and re-rushing in mind!

roommate had a 2.8 and she got dropped from recruitment. Still do it though! You will make friends and learn so much about the greek system and what it takes to be in a house when you COB. It basically goes like 3.0 gets you into bottom tier. middle tier is around 3.4? and top tier 3.7. general rules from what I learned from recruitment this year

Thank you so much for the advice!! Also, do you know if it's primarily "top tier" houses that have strict gpa requirements? Or is it all of the houses?
