fraternity favoritism by cities

Do some fraternities favor rushees who are from a certain area? Is being an out-of stater a disadvantage?

ato, pi kap, and phi psi tend to take a lot from chicago. sigma nu and pike take a lot from the south

basically, yes. The top frats recruit mainly from MO especially wealthy kids from STL and Kansas City. Doesn't mean you don't have a shot but it's just not that common to see a guy from out of state in a top house.

Considering 71% of Mizzou's population is in-state, and almost everyone else is from Illinois, obviously most of the frats take a lot of Chicago and MO guys. But I know several out-of-state guys in almost all of the top frats. So being in-state gives you an advantage because you know guys in the frat coming in, or know the same people but in the end it REALLY does not matter, if you're a cool guy
