Tips for Rushing
by: new to mizzouDoes anyone have any tips for girls that are rushing? I have heard that rushing can be stressful and I am wondering if there is anything I could do in advance to make the process of rushing easier?

Get off this website and try to go in with an open mind. Know that this is YOUR experience and no one else’s opinion matters. Have all of your outfits planned out in advance so you don’t have to worry about it. Be prepared to talk about yourself, why you’re rushing, and what you are looking for in a sisterhood.

Don't ignore this website entirely and make sure you check out the Mizzou Greek Life statistics. Make up your own mind, but make sure it is an informed decision. There is nothing worse than accepting only what is presented about a house by its members during rush, and then realizing you have made a bad decision that you have to live with and that precludes you from actually being in a house you can be proud of. Any house can present itself as making grades a priority, but some who have done that during recruitment actually are at the bottom of the barrel grade-wise. Any house can present itself as having its philanthropy as a main focus, but then you join and you find out that's one day second semester and the rest of the time charitable efforts are ignored. Any house can seem to have nothing but pretty girls, but the reality is that they are hiding some people upstairs. So ask around, talk with people you know from your high school who are part of the Greek system, ask questions during rush and accept whatever they say with skepticism. Most important, ask if the house does COB-ing or informal, because if they do it a lot, it's a troubled house.
