sorority recruitment help
by: potentialPNMI'm thinking about rushing next year at Mizzou and have read that you have to do your "research" before recruitment week. What kind of research do they mean? Should I research stuff about each house and what they value and their philanthropy? Is that the kind of conversation they want us to make with them? And as shallow as this sounds how much do looks count because I read that looks play a huge role in the decision making process

We don't expect you to know everything about our house coming in but reading up a little on each chapter doesn't hurt. And I now it sounds shallow but looks do play a big role. When you have as many girls go through recruitment as we do here, you need to look YOUR best. Do your hair and makeup, iron your clothing, come to recruitment looking your best. We're not asking you to be somebody you're not but if it doesn't look like you tried then it won't rub most houses the right way. Good grades, a pulled together look and a stellar personality will take you very far in recruitment :)

looks do matter A LOT. No one wants to come out and say that but in all honesty I start judging a girl the second i see her. It's superficial but with so many girls going through you need to make yourself stand out. It will look bad on your part if you did not take the time and effort to make yourself look presentable because everyone on the other side is doing the same but have your own style and still be you! and it won't hurt to know about the house before hand so that you can prepare conversation but it is absolutely not necessary to know every houses philanthropy and what not. Houses encourage you to ask questions and actually like it because it gives them a chance to tell you about them and makes for good conversation! good luck :)
