kappa getting so defensive when people say they're COBing.. if you don't consider COBing a bad thing then don't freak out about people saying you do.. so what if it's not true? if it wasn't a bad thing u wouldnt care. So Klassy of you.

We're not getting defensive. I'm just making sure anybody who wants to COB doesn't waste their time trying to COB us when they could be talking to girls in houses that are actually COBing. It's tough to COB a house that does it secretly and I'm trying to make sure girls spend the little time they have left to their advantage. There are some girls from rush I'd LOVE to COB, but we're just not allowed to.

I really don't think I'm better than anybody because I'm a Kappa. I just know that COBing is competitive and it happens right when we all get back so wasting time trying to COB a house that isn't accepting COBs takes time away from opening up relations with houses that will COB.

I KNEW Kappa was all over this website. Wow. And actually, the Kappa exec bd asked for a meeting with Panhel about how to COB since they haven't in the past but wanted information for this year. Panhel asked chairmen from a few of the houses to sit in. Alpha Phi and GPhi were among them. Don't know the result.

According to the stats that just came out from Mizzou Greeklife, Kappa's new PC had only 80 members vs. Theta and Pi PHI both had 86. They obviously lost new members or didn't make quota in the fall. So information/rumors about them trying to COB is likely very true.

My roommate is a Kappa and she said they had like 3 new members drop. One just left Mizzou, just wasnt ready to be away from home, one couldn't afford it, one had a deeply personal issue and wasn't ready to take on the demands of a sorority. Sooo I mean even though people might drop I dont think it really has anything to do with them suddenly being a bad house with bad retention. Some issues are just inevitable, like the ones I just stated. Every house has lost some girls to issues that have nothing to do with a sorority. But one thing I do know for sure, they can't COB. They haven't COBed in like 25 years. So just clearing up some rumors. Losing a few members doesn't automatically mean they are gonna go into COB mode.

Gphi cobs more than people think. They have a small house (members). They don't have a very good sisterhood once they've all moved out of the house and just see the point anymore to being in Gphi. Most other houses have an annex you have to love in with your sisters. They dont

Currently, campus TOTAL is 288. Any chapter with less than 288 members is eligible to COB. Some chapters choose not to. Chapters who are smaller than 288 can use COB to get bigger - thus they will take the opportunity to COB to add more members. Despite transfers, members who drop during their new member period for whatever reason and December graduations, some chapters still are larger than 288 and cannot COB. COB is a good thing - allowing chapters to gain wonderful new members from the pool of women who were not comfortable in formal recruitment, who fell thru the cracks, who recently transferred to campus or who didn't realize they wanted to be Greek.

QUOTA is the number that Panhel sets as the size of the new member class after formal recruitment. It is the same for all sororities each year but may be different each year.

A tip - When grades are posted for fall 2013 on the greek life website, check chapter size of each chapter. If the size is below 288 they probably are going to COB for spring 2014. If it is slightly above 288 - say up to around 295 - it is possible they will COB a few new members spring 2014. If they are well above 288 then they likely will not be participating in COB.

this is very true, if you look at the PC sizes as well you can easily make a list of houses that will be COBing this semester: Phi Mu, Zeta, Sigma, SK (our usual chapters that have to COB), maybe DG, Gphi? I think GPhi has already COBed this fall though - just because they reported having a higher NM quota than allowed.

I wouldn't call SK a house that usually COBs, they've only done it once so far and are still trying to Recruit up to full chapter size. Plus they had one of the largest PC's this recruitment. I think this will be the last time SK COBs because after two more pledge classes they should be at normal chapter size. They are new after all.

You guys can claim Kappa is COBing all you want but that does not change the fact that Kappas Nationals will not allow them to COB. My sister was a Kappa in '04 and nothing has changed since she went here. All you're doing by spreading rumors is making COBing look like a bad thing, which it's not, and you're confusing girls who want to COB into thinking houses that aren't COBing are.

Do not lie about what houses will COB because the only thing you're doing is confusing PNMs and making their job harder than it is. COB is competitive and they don't need it to be any more difficult than it is.

My advice to girls who want to COB, make a list of houses you want to COB, and ask girls in that house if they are COBing. Start now. Schmooze, chat them up, make a good impression. If you don't know any girls in a house you wanna COB then contact their Recruitment chair and show interest. This website is the last place to help you with COB information considering the lies that keep getting spread around. Just log off and start asking the right people about COB.

ah what do ya know! grades and member totals come out once again to blast away any inaccuracies Zeta has spewed over the past few months. Looks like they have indeed lost quite a few new members (hence the poor retention still stands), and will have to COB once again because they're under campus total. in the future, just don't lie that you're getting better. It'll save us the drama next year.

It usually starts right when we get back, February is when I've seen Phi Mu and Sigma tabling so I'd assume it's then.

Sigma
SK
Zeta
Phi MU
DG
GPhi

Are all under 288, average chapter size. They should all be COBing. And ADPi probably will considering how many girls they lost from their last PC but since they have 302 girls in their house they might not have to.

a phi and a dpi are cobing. Cobing is great. now shut up. Over 90+ girls are expressed interest to COB in my chatter (Aphi) so I really don't see how Cobing is a bad thing

by: We know

It's not bad. The people that consider COBing a negative is kappa. It's honestly offensive to other houses they way the kappas act toward COB. Not COBing doesn't make your house any better than a house that is

ADPi is COBing but only a handful of girls and only if you know somebody. No use lying about it because nobody thinks COBing is bad unless they're a Kappa.

STOP. Reread their comments. They DO NOT think COBing is bad. They simply are not allowed to do it for national reasons and they were clarifying that to anyone interested in COBing. Never once did they say it was a bad thing, just merely stating rumors that they were COBing were false. you guys are insane.
