Fraternity Housing

by:

Are there any exceptions to living in a frat house for the first year?
I know things can vary between houses, but is there any universal rule concerning that?^

What exactly are you asking? Do you want to join a fraternity but not contribute for the house that makes the fraternity viable at Mizzou?

Members who don't live in a fraternity house (upperclassmen, for the most part) still contribute to make the house viable. So what exactly are you saying?

I think you understand that he is not talking about upperclassman. At some point every relevant fraternity at Mizzou requires that members live in and financially contribute to the fraternity house. If they don’t, then they are making it up somewhere else, most likely in higher dues. But if the Fraternity has a house, you can bet that at some point you will need to live in the house. Whether or not it is your freshman year or not is dependent on the individual fraternity. We opted not to take freshman. The university has been pushing for freshman to live in the dorms for awhile.

No global rules on living in the house as a Freshman other than IFC - standards and each Fraternity’s traditions. If Freshman or Pledges live in the house and the house qualifies, what is your concern? Pledgeship is when the group becomes life long friends. Why would you want your entire class to live together except you?

Absolutely agree with that statement as well. Honestly, if you don’t want to ever live in house, don’t join. It’s not for you.
