recs
by: pnmIf I don't know anyone personally who could write me a letter of recommendation for a certain sorority is there a way I can find someone to write me one? I heard that you could contact local alumnae chapters and find someone, but how do you do that?

The better houses will expect you to have one. That's because the better houses prefer to take people familiar with the whole sorority tradition, and that means having mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, neighbors and friends who were Greek. Yeah, they can find one for you, but a rec is a good way to further introduce you to a chapter and inform the chapter about things the basic rush form doesn't incude/allow.

Most of the time you can look online and find someone in charge of the chapter in your area. If you just mention that you're looking for someone to write you a rec letter for a certain house most of the women would be happy to help! Letters are definitely not necessary but they help give the chapter a closer look at you before you even go to they house during rush so if you can't find letters for a certain house don't worry!
