Fraternity Recruitment

by:

Is there any factual - not bs self-aggrandizement - info regarding which fraternities did well in recruitment? Best new members?

Add to that question - which fraternities have the largest pledge classes?

So far it seems like DU, DKE, Phi Delt, DTD, Phi Kapp, and Delt Sig got a lot of new members and solid pledge classes. All headed towards top houses on campus.

Phi Kap? Really? Dang, that's interesting. Been awhile since Phi Kap has done anything noteworthy. I figured DU and DTD would do good. Beta usually does but didn't get mentioned by Greeker.

So do you have any numbers? What is a good number this year?

DU gave out bids like candy. Tons of people got them so their pledge class is huge but a super wierd mix of guys. Beta didn’t handle virtual recruitment very well. Delt, PIKE, and Delt Sig also struggled but they had lots of informal rush already so it didn’t matter too much. Best pledge classes probably Delt, DKE, Phi Delt and Phi Psi. AGRO didn’t even do formal rush.

Most successful fraternity recruitment?

Delta Upsilon, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Phi Delta Theta, and maybe Delta Tau Delta.

The only facts we have are statistical - numbers, size of pledge classes and Greeker seems to be accurate as to the fraternities he identifies as getting a lot of new members (but I am wondering how Phi Kap may have pulled it off, lol). As to the best pledge classes - opinion (and bias - and self-ranking, of course). But taking opinions into account those noting DU, DKE, and Phi Delt seem to have the probability of accuracy.

All I know is mine.

Sigma Nu

54 signed so far. Couple more possibilities
27 average ACT
3.5 average HS GPA

I thought we did well.

If that's true, Snakes, you really did well. Maybe Sigma Nu is poised for a resurgence. But what kind of guys? Small town, K.C., St.L? In state? Out-of-state? And how is your house looking these days? Any improvements?

Fraternities ebb and flow, much more so that sororities. One bad, or one good, pledge class makes a difference. Good luck to you, SN, because it would be great to see a house with a longstanding tradition back on top rather than all of the here-today-gone-tomorrow frats without any history or alums here.

Obviously Stl and KC still dominate. However we have been trying to add small town guys and out of state. I don’t know what the makeup is yet. Still meeting them.

Indeed,

New house a few years ago. There’s a video on trending houses. Looks a lot like the old house to me
