Hey I went through rush this year as a sophomore and it wasn’t totally smooth sailing for me, but that’s also because my grades were very average. I did end up in a house that I love but I also came into rush with at least one rec for every house and I had family/friends in sororities that were able to guide me and help get everything in order. Rec letters help a LOT so the sorority alums can introduce you to their house and the houses can get to know you. I think that’s what helped me the most, so the houses could know a little bit about me before meeting me and the letter writers could write about me being a transfer. My rush group had a decent amount of sophomores (both transfers and returning mu students) and I think all of us got bids and those who didn’t dropped out of rush. As long as you can keep conversations flowing and know how to dress cute (don’t need designer clothes, just look like you care) and ESPECIALLY keep your mind open, you’ll end up in a house and should have at least a decent rush week. I think every house took sophomores this year, but definitely some houses more than others.

I should add that my grades were around 3.2-3.3 when I rushed. I know college gpa is looked at differently and as more impressive/difficult than high school gpa, but I’m pretty sure the biggest reason I got cut from the houses I did was because of my grades.
