is it better...
by: Hmmm????At the risk of inviting the wrath of intolerant people who are sick of this subject, I have a question. Is it better to COB as a freshman or take your chances and go through rush as a sophomore? I guess what I'd like to know from representatives of all the houses on this campus is just how many sophomores do you take each year? And what are the grade requirements?

I would definitely try formal rush as a sophomore first, because you will have more options! COB is limited and you won't have an equal chance of seeing what each house has to offer. If it doesn't work out in formal, then COB as a sophomore. You will have equal opportunity as a sophomore COB to a freshman COB.

I would rush again as a sophomore IF you have above a 3.2-3.3. If you have poor grades and you're a sophomore, forget it.
My house (top or upper-mid, depending on who you ask) does take sophomores ONLY if they have good grades and involvement on campus. Also, get to known women in sororities that you might be interested in joining. They can pull for you when you go through recruitment.

I COB'ed as a freshman and I could not be happier with my decision. Last year a large number of houses COBed, some with bigger pledge classes than others. If there was a house you really liked going through recruitment, contact their VP of Membership and ask about COB. That's what I did last year and like I said it was a great decision for me.
