cob fall/spring 2019-20

Spring COB should be a little more structured, fall was most likely rushed for most chapters since they want to get them in with the formal recruitment pledge class ASAP. In the meantime, I would just focus on meeting new people and getting to know girls in chapters. That way, you can have an idea of what each chapter may be like for spring and they have you on their radar. There aren’t many COB spots though, so don’t let that discourage you. If it doesn’t work out it isn’t abnormal to go through formal recruitment as a sophomore.

COBing is a racket. In most cases it's just a way of lower-tier houses to get their friends to join. It's also a way of discriminating against minorities and out-of-state girls. Wait until summer, sign up for formal recruitment and make your choice that way. In the meantime, make sure your GPA is outstanding and that you participate in meaningful college activities.

It is not all bad too wait. By being on campus you can get to know people and more about the houses so you can have a better understanding where you may want to be. You may have an opportunity for spring but not every house always participates.
Can keep your options open and if something looks good in spring you can explore it if not go through formal next year. Just make sure your grades are great, etc.
