How do I get out of my sorority?

I really encourage you to stick with it for a few weeks! Everybody gets overwhelmed at first and might not like the house they end up in/people they're around. At first I freaked out thinking everyone in my house only cared about getting drunk and partying, but it's really not true. People are just antsy to talk about it after a long recruitment. What are you thinking?

Many girls would LOVE to be in your place having been dropped by everyone. Give it a try as beenthere says. You never know where you will find a friend. Being Greek is a blast and hopefully you will find out that you have something wonderful to offer your new sisters. Give it a chance! If it's really not for you, be graceful about it.
Share your thoughts and maybe you'll find some helpful advice! Good luck to you!

I'd really like to know why you feel like you want to "get out" after only day. What happened?

Yes, I'm eager to hear what the problem is after ONE day. You haven't even really given your chapter a chance. And like the poster above me said, there are hundreds of girls who would kill to be in your shoes, so you might want to rethink your attitude.

so you put all the effort in to going through sorority rush, got a bid, and immediately want to quit? Great follow through.

numbers last year showed that phi mu and sigma were below total as well. i thought phi mu was around 180ish? I remember it was a big deal because SK had a bigger house than both phi mu and sigma

Its totally understanding that you are exhausted after recruitment... completely. And if you had your heart set on one chapter and it didn't work out, its understandable that you would be disheartened and upset.
Just give it a week or so. and TRY and meet the girls in your pledge class and in the chapter. Don't just Greek Life based on recruitment. and DONT judge your sorority based on any of crap on this website...

Can you guys stop trying to convince her not to drop? She's clearly had a bad experience, and so have I, and we both want out. Please tell us how to go about dropping our sorority.

Was your bad experience something serious, like being hazed, or was it that you just didn't get the house you had your sights set on? I'm going to go with you're hurt and disappointed that you did not get a bid to your top choice. Most sorority women did not get their #1 choice. You're one of the lucky ones out of almost 1800 girls to get a bid, and two days after bid day you want to drop the house who welcomed you into their sisterhood. The house that invited you to pref day, shared traditions with you, and you want to drop.

You know what, I'm not going to try to convince you to not drop, because if you're in my house I want you the he|| out. If you don't want to be there, fine, leave, there are other girls who would be GIDDY to get to take your spot. You weren't one of the girls crying the morning of bid day because their pi chi called and said you didn't receive any bids, but by all means, don't give these women a chance to show you how great Greek Life can be. I'm ashamed for you.
