any advice for me?
by: PuzzledI'm a freshman in a sorority and have been to many fraternity parties and also have met a few guys wearing their letters in some of my classes. I have to say for the most part the guys I've met have been wither drunk or gawkingly immature. I don't want to blame them, however. Maybe I'm just hanging out in the wrong places. Are there any fraternities that are known for being respectful of women?

Unfortunately you’re a freshman... Spend you’re time having fun and just getting to know people! You can’t expect freshman fraternity guys in their first few weeks of college to not be drunk and having fun. The harsh reality of college is that most guys spend their first few years of college being drunk idiots. Guys don’t really start settling down till junior year

I think you will find as you get older that you get weary of fraternity guys, most of whom have a lot of trouble growing up. And it's nopt just freshman guys, either, but frat guys of all ages. There are a few individuals within just about every fraternity who are respectful of women, but put the rest of them in a situation with young women and cheap beer and it's a recipe for embarrassment. It's fun to go to parties when you're a freshman, but you will tire of it by the time you are a sophomore. Most of the women in my house don't date frat guys. It's just too tedious.

The people above couldn’t have said it any better. Settling for only frat guys is just setting yourself up for frustration and disappointment. Diversify the guys you wanna hang with to different groups on campus and you’re bound to find some worth your time. But for now enjoy the free alcohol. However we all have our needs and sometimes alcohol entices us to make a move on that with people who normally wouldn’t be on our radar so don’t be afraid to get your fix and keep the kitty happy if you need it, as long as you can separate in your head the type of guys worth trying to date and the ones just when you’re drunk, bored and need some... you’ll be golden. Best of luck, be safe, have fun, stick up for yourself and when the boys fail you just know you have your gals to keep you sane.

I'm a sophomore and am living in the house for the first time. I talked to my friends about this to get their opinions and we agreed we just can't see ourselves dating fraternity guys. I'm in accounting and there are plenty of guys in the B School with potential. I can't imagine a real relationship with a guy whose top priority is procuring beer and who still takes his laundry home for mommy to wash.
