Do you think houses will be giving out snap bids this year? And, if not, what houses do you think will be COBing?

When bid day comes around and somehow, through the algorithm, a house ends up under quota, they can extend snap bids. Snap bids are bids given to girls that have either withdrawn from the recruitment process or been released the morning of bid day. Basically that girl would get a call from her pi chi at like 6 am asking if she wants to accept a snap bid, then she would go to bid day just like everyone else and no one would ever have to know she was a snap bid.

If you read the posts on here you'll know that they didn't actually give out snap bids. Maybe you have them mixed up with another house?

It was definitely done because my roommate got a call. I don't know how many others, of course, because it's kind of hush-hush. To me it's further proof that the system doesn't really work all that well.

Snap bids are actually a win-win. Pan tells houses how many girls they have to cut based on historical averages. But sometimes there are more legacies or strong classes from a place they traditionally recruit well from. So it's not always the same and sometimes too many girls end up getting cut by the top houses. So girls they wanted but had to cut earlier get a bid. That fills up the houses and provides homes for the girls who wanted the sorority experience.

So it doesn't mean the system doesn't work. It means even when it doesn't work perfectly, there's a solution.
