ready to go?

by:

Here's my prediction on recruitment, from an admittedly narrow vantage point. So please chime in with how you think things will go.
-- I think PiPhi and ChiO will have their usual amazing recruitment and get just who they want. Theta, too, because they always do.
-- I think TriDelt will make great strides and return to top tier.
--I think DG will gain ground.
-- I think some houses will struggle and this might be a make or break year for them. Many people think there may be more sororities on this campus than today's reduced demographic numbers can support.
Others???

I don't know about the individual houses you have named and how they will do, but I do think there are too many sororities on this campus and WAY too many fraternities that are just limping along.

A total of 1,400 signed up, most of whom are really special girls. Let's say 25% (being generous here) will drop out along the way because they are unhappy with their choices or didn't get asked back as the week wears on. That leaves about 1,050 girls remaining. Let's say quota is 65, which means 975 girls will find a home. the top 3-4 houses will take the top 250 or so girls. So to make a truly top house (PiPhi, ChiO, Theta, maybe ADPi, Kappa or TriDelt), you have to be absolutely outstanding when it comes to grades, honors, looks, activities, athletics and other talents. And yet the entire sorority system here is incredible. So hang in there, even if you are cut by the best houses, because you can certainly find a place where you are happy that offers a great sisterhood and the potential to make lifelong friends. The highest echelon is just that. Maybe you aren't cut out to be in that rarefied air anyway and would be happier with girls with whom you have more in common. Embrace the experience and don't be too picky. Just be yourself and you probably will wind up just where you are supposed to be.

For the past two years the percent of potential new members who register who end up joining has been 82 percent. If you do the math Quota will likely be around 77.

That 82% statistic is incorrect. And your quota estimate is too high.
